I am the proud mama of two young children, a rescued dog and two rescued cats, and I am grateful to be married to my best friend. I love the outdoors, hiking, cycling, snowboarding, camping, yoga, good coffee, cheesy romantic comedies, folk & bluegrass music, and great vegan food. I'm from California but have also lived in Michigan, South Carolina, and upstate New York. I am so grateful to now call the Pacific Northwest home!
My love for photography began at a young age when I would pose my family and friends to create portraits. I found that I really enjoyed photographing people - capturing the unique emotions and personalities each individual possesses and documenting raw candid moments have always evoked a sense of happiness for me. The messy, chaotic, imperfect nature of being human tends to create the most beautiful art, in my opinion!
After high school, I enrolled in a darkroom class at our local community college (along with a few general education classes for good measure). I will never forget the smell of the chemicals and that connection with making images from start to finish. Digital photography is a wonderful thing, but there is nothing like creating photographs in a darkroom. It was somewhat of a spiritual experience for me, to be honest. I loved it so much that (in my 18-year-old carelessness) I would often skip my other classes to spend more time in the darkroom's open lab! I went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in photojournalism, and after graduating, I fell quickly in love with wedding and portrait photography. Though over the years I pursued other career paths - including a position as the Photo and Video Coordinator for Farm Sanctuary, and then becoming an elementary school teacher - my heart will always belong to this work.
Thank you for stopping by. I would love to hear from you!
